Weekend Wrap-Up

Saturday at home relaxing and getting chores completed for Tuesday's return to work. Sunday out on the town - breakfast and movie, Dark Shadow with a stop at Ballard Market where I picked up this handsome tuxedo petunia.
Also from Ballard Market, coconut water. Have you ever tried? I watched one of my favorite Discovery channel shows, Man, Woman Wild, and they were singing the praises of coconut water plus I've seen more and more packaged containers of it so I splurged on the 3/$5 litre special. Maybe its awesome when you haven't had anything to drink in two days...to me it tasted like water in which one has cooked sweet corn. Not sure if its an acquired taste or if it needs a skirt of lemon; an idea for another day.

Vacation!

I am officially on vacation, though it doesn't quite feel like it. I am taking a week off work and leaving for Hawaii on Sunday afternoon. I have never been to Hawaii before so I am really, excited.

I have tons of homework for school. I totally struggled and could not "get-into" the reading assignments. (about 100 pgs at least of articles) plus a chapter in the text book. Although she extended the deadline for the case study, I really want to get it done by tomorrow night so that I DO NOT have to worry or think about it while on vacation. Because the reading was laborious I kept putting it off, and I am not a procratinator by nature. I decided yesterday to re-start and re-read all of the articles that I read early last week because I just couldn't remember a THING. I am half-way done now. After this post I will turn my attention to my final hand out. I think I can get the chapter in the text done tomorrow morning.

If I can get my reading assignments done by 11AM tomorrow and then spend 1 hour slamming out some draft ideas for my case response then I can do a little exercise and head to VegFest in the early afternoon and then church. When I get home from church o/a 7PM I can work on finalizing my Case Study. This was the approach I took to a paper about six weeks ago and it worked out really well for me. I hope the same plan works this time.

Sunday I will pack and make a run to the store to get last minute odds & ends like batteries for my camera, sunscreen, antibacterial wipes, granola bars. I have all my clothing - and a new swim suit and sandals, etc. I am really looking forward to this trip, I haven't had a legitimate vacation in four years when I last went to Paris.

24 Days of Christmas

December 2nd

Work all day, train into town. Happy hour in Pacific Place, watch the faux snow fall. Hair cut. Home relaxing.

25 Days of Christmas

December 1st.

Took day off, had Phase I of a crown on my tooth; went for breakfast with a friend came home, took some pain killers and took a long three hour nap. Watched Obama's speech and then went for a walk in the neighborhood to see the lights. Bought a Christmas shortbread cookie with pink sprinkle sugar. By 8PM several homeless fellas hunkered down in store front doorways. A dry Seattle night for street sleeping I suppose but very thankful for my warm and cozy bed at home.

Budget Meal for Next Week: - Knorr Teriyaki Rice mix ($.99) add 2 cups cooked barley (from pantry,) mix thoroughly. Blanch sliced carrots until just al dente. Slice and fry until crisped/browned Hillshire smoked turkey sausage (4 oz from freezer). When sausage is done add to rice mixture, add al dente carrots and toss/mix. Do not over toss. Should make 4 to 6 servings perfect for lunches.

I was going to shop this w/e at Safeway, I have a $25 gift card and buy produce and eggs, but I think I am going to see if I can bypass that. Thursday is pay-day. I love eggs, so I will see if Walgreens has a $1.50 special on eggs, if they do I will get a dozen there, even tho I hate white eggs but my desire for a bargain outstrips my desire for brown eggs, besides when hard boiled, they peel better. Any cheap deals Walgreens has on snacks I will consider buying; I need to peruse their flyer if I want to go there tomorrow morning.

Saturday morning I was going to go buy a fuschia for my balcony but that will cost $17.99 plus tax. I think I may wait on that and see if I can score something on sale for less in the next week or two. My window boxes are quite fine for right now.

I had this envelop of various cards that I went through last night (because I was trying to remember where that Safeway card was!) and I also came across enough "stamps" for two free Teriyaki meals and two AMC Movie theatre cards, one cards has $9.75 on it and the other card has $1.25 on it ... so I think I'd have enough for a before noon movie and a kid pack, yeah I would, before noon is $6.00 and a kid pack is $6.00 also but I like the Icee so that ups the price a dollar or two, but worth it. Maybe I'll go to a movie on Sunday. This sounds dorky, but I would like to see the Hannah Montana Movie. I think she's really cool and I do wish I could go back and re-do my adolesence, I would do things so differently!

Well, it has been on hell of a week, I am so happy it is the weekend, I am mentally fried. I can barely keep my eyes open so I will wrap things up for the evening.

Though I may not celebrate Christmas, I did celebrate the after Christmas sales this morning. My friend and I set out at 6AM for the mall. I bought a Jones NY cotton blouse, scarf wrap in black, PJs, socks, ornament, 8pk of pink facecloths all for under $75 at JC Penney. At Target I bought holiday snacks/candy for under $20, Denny's for a Grand Slam Bfast, Fred Meyer for groceries and JoAnn's yarn and needles because I am taking up knitting.
